Shell forum deepens gas investment drive

Yenagoa, May 15, 2026 (NAN) Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG) has reinforced its commitment to industrial growth by hosting a business and investment forum in Port Harcourt.

The forum brought together manufacturers, regulators, investors, policymakers and development partners from across the Niger Delta region.

Mrs Gladys Afam-Anadu, Shell Communications Manager, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

She said the gathering explored opportunities in natural gas adoption, industrial expansion and sustainable economic development.

The participants examined ways of reducing operating costs and improving productivity through cleaner energy solutions.

Afam-Anadu said the event also focused on unlocking investment returns and strengthening business competitiveness.

She noted that the forum coincided with new customer additions to SNG’s distribution network in Agbara, Ogun.

The new customers are Intercontinental Distillers Ltd. 2 and Rumbu Industries Ltd. She said the additions raised the number of companies served by SNG to over 150.

According to her, many customers already enjoy stronger efficiency and improved financial performance.

Representatives of regulatory institutions, business groups and financial organisations attended the event.

They included the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and the Bank of Industry.

Others included the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and regional chambers of commerce.

Mr Chukwuka Amos-Ejesi, Head of Gas Distribution, delivered the keynote on behalf of Managing Director, Ralph Gbobo.

Gbobo said, “Companies switching to gas enjoy lower energy costs and reduced exposure to fuel price volatility.

“They also gain stronger operational uptime, better planning certainty and improved customer offerings.”

According to him, SNG remains focused on solutions delivering immediate economic value.

He said the company was equally supporting long term industrial growth across Nigeria.

SNG officials also presented insights into the gas value chain and the company’s infrastructure footprint.

They outlined ongoing expansion plans across Rivers and neighbouring industrial corridors.

Officials highlighted environmental and economic benefits of gas compared with diesel.

They also identified emerging opportunities in gas distribution, industrial supply and power generation.

Stakeholders commended SNG for creating a platform for dialogue and collaboration.

They expressed optimism that wider gas adoption could address longstanding energy challenges.

Chief Solomon Edebiri, representing the Niger Delta chambers, stressed the urgency of industrial revival.

He said, “More than 500 companies in the region have ceased operations in recent years.

“Effective gas utilisation can transform industrial practices and restore business confidence.”

The event also featured gas sales agreements with Boskel Nigeria Ltd. and Bluefinn Global Resource Ltd.

The agreements expanded SNG’s footprint across Rivers and Bayelsa.

The forum also revealed the integration of the two Ogun based manufacturers into its network.

Officials said gas supply to both facilities equalled roughly four megawatts of electricity.

They said the development would improve production efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Gbobo said, “These milestones reflect our commitment to deeper customer engagement and industrial growth.”

Founded in 1998, SNG continues supplying industrial customers across Abia, Bayelsa, Ogun and Rivers states.
