Parallex Bank rewards 10 Lagos athletes with ₦10m

Parallex Bank has rewarded 10 outstanding athletes from the Lagos State contingent to the 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, with ₦10m.

The bank presented ₦1m each to the athletes in recognition of their exceptional performances at the Games, where they won medals and distinguished themselves across different sporting events.

The presentation, which was held at the bank’s headquarters in Lagos, formed part of Parallex Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative aimed at promoting youth empowerment, rewarding excellence and encouraging the next generation of Nigerian athletes.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Parallex Bank, Dr Olufemi Bakre, presented symbolic cheques to the beneficiaries in the presence of the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, coaches, officials and other stakeholders.

Speaking during the event, Bakre said the gesture was in line with the bank’s commitment to supporting young people and creating opportunities for them to achieve their potential.

He said the athletes had demonstrated discipline, resilience, focus and excellence, adding that their performances at the National Youth Games deserved to be celebrated and encouraged.

Bakre said, “At Parallex Bank, we believe that investing in young people is an investment in the future. These exceptional athletes have demonstrated excellence, discipline and resilience, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements.

“Through this recognition, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering young talents and enabling limitless possibilities for the next generation.”

The bank said the recognition followed the impressive outing of the Lagos State contingent at the 2025 National Youth Games, where the athletes delivered remarkable medal-winning performances and helped strengthen the state’s reputation as one of the leading forces in youth sports development in the country.

According to the bank, the reward was not only a celebration of the athletes’ success but also a deliberate effort to motivate other young Nigerians to embrace hard work, discipline and dedication in their chosen fields.

Parallex Bank noted that sports remained a powerful platform for youth development, character building and national growth, adding that the achievements of the athletes showed the importance of investing in grassroots talent.

The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission commended Parallex Bank for what he described as a laudable demonstration of corporate social responsibility.

He said the bank’s support for the athletes would go a long way in motivating young sportsmen and women to continue striving for excellence.

According to him, the intervention has also contributed meaningfully to sports development in Lagos State by showing young athletes that outstanding performances can attract recognition, encouragement and support from responsible corporate organisations.

He added that the partnership between the Lagos State Sports Commission and Parallex Bank was a long-term collaboration that would continue to grow in line with the bank’s vision and commitment to excellence.

The commission also praised the bank for consistently identifying with young athletes and supporting initiatives that promote talent discovery, development and reward.

The initiative builds on Parallex Bank’s support for Lagos athletes in previous editions of the National Youth Games and reflects the bank’s commitment to recognising excellence, empowering young people and creating lasting social impact.

The bank said it would continue to support programmes and partnerships that advance youth development, deepen community impact and inspire young Nigerians to pursue their dreams with confidence.
