TCN reaffirms commitment to continuous collaboration with host communities
Abuja,July 2026(Tbl Africa) The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open communication, mutual respect, and continuous collaboration with host communities.
TCN’S General Manager Public Affairs,Mrs Ndidi Mbah, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.
Mbah said that the Mr Nasir Mansur, General Manager (Transmission), Kaduna Region made the commitment, when he received members of the United Progressive Youth of Afaka (UPYA) on a courtesy visit to the Regional Office.
According to her, during the engagement, discussions centred on strengthening the existing partnership, promoting peaceful coexistence, and exploring ways to deepen community participation in safeguarding transmission facilities while supporting sustainable community development
She quoted Mansur as saying that the company’s community engagement strategy was aimed at building confidence, addressing concerns through dialogue, and encouraging communities to play an active role in protecting critical power infrastructure for the benefit of all Nigerians.
”This visit reflects the positive impact of TCN’s sustained stakeholder engagement and sensitisation programmes, which have continued to foster cordial relationships with communities hosting transmission infrastructure.
”Through these initiatives, TCN has consistently encouraged residents to regard transmission installations as shared national assets that require collective ownership and protection against vandalism and other threats.
”This further reinforces TCN’s belief that strong community partnerships remain essential to securing transmission infrastructure, reducing incidents of vandalism, and ensuring a more reliable electricity transmission system across the country,” Mansur said.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr Abdulhafiz Yahya, the Secretary-General of UPYA, commended TCN for its impactful Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and consistent engagement with the community.
He also pledged the group’s continued support for the protection of transmission installations, describing the partnership as beneficial to both the community and the nation’s electricity network.
