Crude oil supply to domestic refineries drop by 6.3% to 15.97mbd in September – NMDPRA
Abuja, Oct. 2026 – Crude oil supply to domestic refineries in Nigeria dropped by 6.3% to 15.97 million barrels per day in September.
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), disclosed this in its Midstream and Downstream Report released at the weekend.
It said the volume of crude oil supply to the refineries was 17.05 million barrels in August.
The report said the average daily petrol supply also dropped by 23.4 per cent to 38.7 million litres in September from 50.5 million litres in August.
It attributed the fall in petrol receipts to lower domestic supply and reduced imports as approved import permit volumes were being exhausted.
The report said refineries received a combined 156.51 million barrels of crude oil between January and September 2026, comprising 125.85 million barrels of domestic crude and 30.66 million barrels of imported crude.
It said domestic production accounted for 80.4 per cent of total intake, while imported cargoes contributed 19.6 per cent.
The report said domestic refineries supplied an average of 28.5 million litres per day in September, down 20.6 per cent from 35.9 million litres in August.
It said that Dangote Refinery operated at 105.98 per cent utilisation in September, processing approximately 689,000 barrels of crude oil per day against average crude receipts of 618,000 barrels per day.
The difference of about 71,000 barrels per day was drawn from the refinery’s inventory, indicating that it processed more crude than it received during the month.
According to the NMDPRA’s factsheet, August recorded the highest monthly crude intake at 21.10 million barrels, followed by March with 20.92 million barrels, while September’s intake stood at 18.53 million barrels.
The report said Dangote Refinery operated at 105.98 percent of its installed capacity in September 2026, producing at 47.22 million litres per day.
