Police commend Nembe E&P for 12KVA solar donation to Lekki Division
Yenagoa, Sept. 2026 (TBL Africa) The Nigeria Police Force, Lekki Division, has commended Nembe Exploration and Production Company Ltd. (NEPCL) for donating a 12KVA inverter-solar power system to the division.
The police said the donation would improve electricity supply and support effective operations at the station.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Onyosen Hasheed, expressed the appreciation in a letter to NEPCL, sighted on Thursday.
Hasheed described the donation as a valuable contribution to the division, saying it would provide a more reliable source of electricity for routine police activities.
According to the police, the system comprises solar panels, inverter equipment and lithium-battery storage installed at the Lekki Police Station.
The intervention is expected to reduce the division’s dependence on conventional electricity sources and improve power availability for its personnel.
The police said the gesture would create a more conducive working environment for officers and enhance their capacity to discharge their responsibilities.
The division also stressed the importance of collaboration between security agencies and responsible corporate organisations in addressing challenges affecting effective service delivery.
NEPCL said the intervention was designed to support a public institution whose effectiveness contributes to safety and stability in the Lekki business corridor.
The company said the project formed part of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitment to supporting communities and institutions within its operating environment.
It said the solar installation would promote cleaner energy use while strengthening the capacity of the police to protect lives and property.
NEPCL, operator of the NNPC/Nembe Joint Venture (OML 29), said reliable electricity and effective security were important to sustaining confidence among residents, workers, businesses and investors in the Lekki axis.
The company described the project as a practical community intervention rather than a symbolic corporate gesture.
The Lekki axis has continued to grow as a major residential, commercial, industrial and investment corridor in Lagos, with significant activities in logistics, hospitality, real estate, technology and other sectors.
The Lagos State Economic Development Update 2025 reported that Lagos generated N43.06 trillion in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2023, representing 18.38 per cent of Nigeria’s national GDP.
It said Lagos accounted for N27.39 trillion, representing 22.36 per cent of Nigeria’s GDP, in the first half of 2024.
The police division’s appreciation of the donation highlights the potential of targeted private-sector support in improving operational conditions and service delivery in public institutions.
