Nigeria @66: Experts seek sustainable growth in Nigeria’s non-oil exports

Abuja, Oct. 2026 (TBL Africa) Experts in Nigeria’s non-oil export sector have called for stronger measures to sustain the country’s growth in non-oil exports.

The experts spoke in an interview on Thursday in Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu disclosed that Nigeria recorded its highest non-oil export revenue in history in 2025, with earnings exceeding six billion dollars.

Tinubu stated this while addressing Nigerians on the occasion of the 66th Independence Day on Thursday.

Karim Ahmed, the Vice President, World Trade Center Abuja, said the performance showed that Nigerian products were gaining access to international markets.

Ahmed said businesses needed stronger capacity in standards, certifications, logistics and market knowledge to sustain the growth.

He said strengthening these areas would help Nigerian exporters compete more effectively in international markets.

Similarly, Ahmad Rabiu, the National President, Network of Practising Non-Oil Exporters of Nigeria, described the growth in the non-oil exports as encouraging.

Rabiu said stronger coordination, capacity building and deliberate policy support were needed to enable Nigerian exporters compete effectively in global markets.

The non-oil exports include agricultural commodities, manufactured goods, solid minerals and other products exported to international markets.
