The Group General Manager of Continental Hotels Group, Mr. Karl Hala, has said Lagos Continental Hotel is setting the benchmark for luxury business hospitality in Nigeria after it was named Best Luxury Business Hotel in Nigeria 2026 at the Hotel Managers Conference (HMC) Africa.

The award was presented by the Convener of HMC Africa, Mr. Oluwagbenga Sunday, during a ceremony held at Lagos Continental Hotel, which hosted the 2026 edition of the conference.

Presenting the award, Sunday said Lagos Continental Hotel earned the recognition for its exceptional service, world-class facilities, and operational excellence.

He noted that the hotel combines comfort, modern technology, and professional service to meet the needs of business travellers, adding that its prime location and consistent quality have helped raise hospitality standards in Nigeria.

Receiving the award on behalf of Lagos Continental Hotel, Hala said the recognition reflects Continental Hotels Group’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and outstanding customer service.

“This award is a testament to the passion, professionalism, and dedication of every member of our team. Together, we continue to demonstrate what true hospitality excellence looks like,” he said.

Hala added that the recognition shows Nigerian hotels can compete with the best globally through investment in people and consistent service delivery.

“Our frontline staff who welcome our guests and our back-of-house teams who ensure smooth operations are the reason we are celebrating today. Every member of our team is an outstanding ambassador of Continental Hotels Nigeria,” he said.

He described the African hospitality industry as one with enormous potential and urged operators to continue building strong indigenous standards.

“No award is won by one individual. It is the product of teamwork, commitment, and a shared determination to exceed our guests’ expectations every day,” Hala said.

The Group General Manager also commended the leadership of the General Manager of Lagos Continental Hotel, Christoph Schleissing, and the entire staff for their dedication and commitment.

“I congratulate the entire Lagos Continental team on this remarkable achievement. Let this award inspire us to continue putting people first because excellence will always follow,” he said.

Stakeholders at the conference described the award as a major boost for Nigeria’s corporate travel and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism sector. They also said it reinforces Lagos’ position as one of Africa’s leading destinations for business hospitality.
