The Acting Area Controller of the command, Deputy Comptroller Abdulhamid Ibrahim, disclosed this at a news conference on Thursday in Idiroko.

Ibrahim attributed the seizures to intelligence-driven operations, the vigilance of officers and collaboration with sister security agencies.

He said that the achievements underscored the command’s commitment to national security, economic stability and public health.

The controller warned smugglers and economic saboteurs against testing the resolve of the command, assuring that the Service would continue to enforce relevant laws and regulations.

He said that a patrol team intercepted three trucks conveying prohibited goods on Oct. 2 at about 4:30 a.m., following credible intelligence.

According to him, the first truck, with registration number MSW-232-XA, contained 2,740 cartons of foreign Siddo pasta concealed with 500 cartons of Oki condensed milk.

He said 27,831 pieces of unregistered drugs and medical products, including codeine cough syrup, injections, eye drops and supplements without National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) registration numbers, were also seized.

According to him, the seizures of unregistered medicines and restricted military camouflage items posed serious threats to public health and national security.
