President Tinubu, other APC chieftains arrive venue of national convention

 

Abuja, March 2026 (TBL Africa) President Bola Tinubu and other chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday arrived at the Eagle Square, Abuja, the venue of the Eighth National Convention of the APC, amid cheers from thousands of party faithful.

The president, who is the National Leader of the party, arrived at the venue at exactly 8.10 p.m., accompanied by the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, and top government functionaries and party national leaders.

The president’s arrival triggered a surge of excitement among delegates, who chanted “Jagaban” and “Renewed Hope”.

Upon his arrival, the National Anthem was immediately rendered, signalling the official commencement of the day’s proceedings.

Earlier, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, had arrived at the venue to join other party leaders.

Also present were Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara, Chairman of the progressives Governors Forum, Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo, the Chairman, 2026 APC National Convention Central Coordination Committee, Alhaji Bello Masari.

Others included former National Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, former Governor of Delta, Ifeanyin Okowa, and former Edo Governor, Sen. Adams Oshiomhole.

The convention, which attracted over 8,000 delegates, is expected to ratify several constitutional amendments for the party and elect officers to fill vacant positions within the National Working Committee.
