U.S. Consulate trains 200 young entrepreneurs under manufacturing incubation scheme
Lagos, Aug. 2026( TBLÂ Africa) The U.S. Consulate General says it has trained more than 200 young Nigerian entrepreneurs having completed their manufacturing incubation programme, which is designed to strengthen their business and creative capacities.
The Acting Consul General, Ms Julie McKay. made this known while delivering her remarks at the Women Development Centre in Lagos on Wednesday.
The programme is supported by the U.S. government as part of the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The incubation programme is financed by the U.S. Department of State’s Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF).
MsKay explained that the training highlighted the U.S.’s commitment to entrepreneurship and fruitful partnerships to promote economic growth in Nigeria.
She explained that the incubation programme was aimed at sharpening the creative and business skills of young entrepreneurs while deepening commercial ties between the U.S. and Nigeria.
The consular emphasised the U.S. commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and building partnerships that contribute to economic development.

‎”The programme was created to equip young Nigerian entrepreneurs with practical skills, enhance their manufacturing capacity, and foster stronger economic connections between Nigeria and the United States.
“At the U.S mission, we are focused on increasing two way trade and investment between the united states and nigeria and this program, which is sponsored by the U.S. State department.
“It is the alumni engagement innovation fund, the manufacturing incubation program programme like this which help young up and coming entrepreneurs get their products ready for market here in nigeria and in the united states.
“This is a special year for the united states. We are celebrating 250 years of independence. We’re calling it freedom 250. We are looking at American excellence in business and entrepreneurship.
“We are helping Nigerians to be train and connect the united states to nigeria at this special moment in our history. And I think that will just serve to help build those commercial ties on both sides of the atlantic.”
Speaking, the Convener, Mrs Roberta Edu, said the programme was about getting small scale entrepreneurs, agro entrepreneurs get compliance and have regulatory requirements, documentation professionalism that was required by NAFDAC for them to operate in the market.
She said: “This is because most small scale businesses operate without license they were here to change that so that they could scale their business and also operate with confidence and also with compliance.
“As at today, 62 products have been uploaded on the NAFDAC portal. Some have already gotten their certificates while 32 of them now have FDA registration.

“‎We have already registered them, not just in the nigerian market, but in the US market on the walmart and amazon platform so that they can scale their products beyond the nigerian market.”
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Adeola Adewole said the programme had provided her with entrepreneurial guidance and regulatory compliance knowledge.
Adewole said her company name which was Vision International Product, offered pure and unadulterated vegetable oil noting that the oil was distinct due to its natural state and absence of trans fats.

She noted that her brand, which had been trademarked and FDA certified, optimistic that the products would have national and international recognition within the next two years.
