Lagos Elites Lions Club Inducts Six New Members, Unveils Community Legacy Projects

The Lagos Elites Lions Club on Friday inducted six new members after commissioning major education, healthcare and sanitation projects at Arowosegbe Nursery and Primary School in Ketu, Lagos.

The event, held under Lions District 404B2 Nigeria, was witnessed by District Governor Lion Kemi Eribake, Club President Lion Lucy Unegbu, club members and representatives of the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

Lion Ayoola Olatunji administered the membership oath as the new members pledged to uphold the values of Lions Clubs International and serve humanity.

Welcoming the inductees, Olatunji described Lions Club membership as a privilege and encouraged them to uphold integrity, take personal responsibility and support people in need.

“You are about to become part of a global organisation dedicated to humanitarian service,” he said.

The new members were later presented with their official Lions Club regalia.

Speaking after the induction, the new members expressed their commitment to community service.

Michael Adebayo, a student of Lagos State University, said joining the club would give him the opportunity to serve humanity.

“I believe the Lions Club provides a platform to make a meaningful impact through humanitarian service,” he said.

University of Lagos student Temilore Oguntibeju pledged to contribute to improving lives through selfless service.

Omomunmi Oguntade, a Theatre Arts student at the University of Osun, said she hopes to support initiatives that improve learning facilities and educational outcomes.

Nelson Kanu Ikechukwu Unegbu, an Economics student at Babcock University, said he would promote environmental sanitation across Lagos and Nigeria.

“I want to contribute to making Lagos cleaner and our nation better,” he said.

Caleb University Mass Communication student Emmanuella Ajieh said she looks forward to developing sustainable community projects that create lasting impact.

Fashion designer Jumoke Oguntade encouraged more Nigerians to embrace volunteerism, describing community service as a pathway to building stronger and more united communities.

Before the induction ceremony, the club commissioned a fully renovated school clinic equipped with hospital-standard metal bed frames, mattresses, pillows, a first aid box, rechargeable fans, window blinds and other essential medical supplies.

The club also unveiled a reconstructed 14-unit toilet block, a new soakaway pit, repaired plumbing system, restored water pumping machine and a donated 1,000-litre water tank.

The projects form part of the club’s legacy initiatives to improve education, healthcare and sanitation in underserved communities.

The ceremony ended with awards recognising outstanding service to the club. Lion Josha Inyang received the Lion of the Year Award, while Lion Chinwe Enwereuzor, Lion Blessing Nkwocha and Lion Esther Okoro received Appreciation Awards for their contributions to the club’s humanitarian activities.
