NLC, TUC threaten to embark on nation-wide strike

Geneva (Switzerland), June  2026 – The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) on Monday threatened to embark on industrial action over worsening insecurity in the country.

They issued the warning during a joint media briefing on the sidelines of the ongoing 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

The unions said they would embark on a comprehensive strike if the federal government fails to stop worsening incidence of terrorism, banditry and kidnappings across the country.

The labour unions dismissed claims by some state governors that negotiations were ongoing with workers on a proposed N100,000 minimum wage
