Fire guts section of National Assembly
Abuja, June 2025 – There was pandemonium at the National Assembly on Wednesday when the Senate wing was gutted by fire.
The fire incident was reported to have occurred at Hearing Room 107 of the Senate building after the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission concluded its screening of a nominee representing the North-East on the board of the commission.
The fire was immediately put out through the efforts of some senators before it could spread to adjoining buildings.
No casualties were reported from the incident
