NPA expects 39 ships in Lagos
Lagos, Aug. 2026 (TBL Africa) The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) says 39 ships carrying petroleum products, food items and other goods are expected at Lagos ports between Monday and Saturday.
The authority disclosed this in its Daily Shipping Position released on Monday, outlining vessel movements across Apapa, Lekki Deep Sea Port and Tincan Island Port.
According to the NPA, 11 of the incoming vessels are container ships conveying various categories of imported goods for businesses and consumers.
The authority stated that the remaining 28 vessels would berth with bulk urea, petrol, crude oil, diesel and general cargoes.
Other expected consignments include bulk wheat, bulk gas, bulk gypsum, bulk sugar, repair materials and bulk pallets destined for different industrial users.
“The vessels are expected at Apapa, Lekki Deep Sea Port and Tincan Island Port between Aug. 3 and Aug. 8,” the NPA stated.
The authority further reported that 10 ships and tanker vessels had already arrived at the ports and were awaiting berthing clearance.
According to the shipping position, the waiting vessels are laden with petrol, bulk wheat, general cargoes, bulk fertiliser, crude oil and containers.
The NPA also noted ongoing cargo operations across the three major Lagos ports, reflecting sustained maritime and commercial activities.
It stated that 21 ships are currently discharging cargoes at Apapa, Lekki Deep Sea Port and Tincan Island Port.
The cargoes being discharged include bulk wheat, general cargo, containers, petrol, crude oil, base oil and bulk sugar.
Others are bulk pallets and related commodities intended for industrial production, energy supply and commercial distribution across the country.
Industry observers said the volume of expected and active vessels highlighted the strategic role of Lagos ports in facilitating Nigeria’s international trade.
They noted that the steady flow of petroleum products, food commodities and industrial raw materials remained vital to economic activities nationwide.
