NISO inaugurates construction of new national control room in Oshogbo
Abuja, April 2026(TBL Africa) The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), says it has commenced the construction of a new National Control Room at the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo in Osun.
The management of NISO in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, said that the construction followed the handover of the project site to Messrs FBS Construction Engineering Services Limited.
It said that while speaking at the handover, , the Managing Director, of NISO, Abdu Mohammed, charged the contractors to maintain high standards.
Mohammed also stressed the need for collaboration, professionalism, and strict adherence to safety and quality requirements.
He charged the NCC management with ensuring proper supervision and coordination, expressing confidence that the project would be completed on schedule.
The statement also quoted the Executive Director (System Operations), Mr Nafisatu Ali, as saying the NCC is a critical national asset vital to both national security and economic development.
She reaffirmed NISO’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that would enhance grid stability and reliability across the country.
According to her, the site handover represents more than a procedural milestone, but a renewed commitment to executing the project with clarity of purpose, and efficiency.
She also expressed confidence in the capacity of both the contractor and NISO teams to deliver successfully.
Also speaking, Mr Babajide Ibironke, the Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Services), called on the contractor to approach the project with a strong sense of national responsibility.
He noted that the initiative is pivotal to improving electricity stability nationwide.
