Lagos, July 2026 (TBL Africa ) Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Ltd. (BASL), operator of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), has been recognised as the “Most Fire-Free Public Facility” by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

The award acknowledges the terminal’s sustained commitment to fire prevention, emergency preparedness and operational safety.

Head of Corporate Communications, BASL, Mrs Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

Yinka-Olawuyi said the award was presented at the recently concluded Lagos International Fire Safety Conference 3.0, where MMA2 was honoured for maintaining high standards in fire safety management, risk prevention and emergency response systems.

She said the terminal’s recognition followed sustained investment in fire prevention infrastructure, emergency response capabilities and compliance with aviation safety standards.

According to her, MMA2 has continued to prioritise the safety of passengers, employees, airlines, concessionaires and other terminal users through proactive safety management practices.

She said the facility is equipped with advanced fire detection and suppression systems, trained emergency response personnel and comprehensive emergency preparedness protocols.

Yinka-Olawuyi added that routine maintenance of fire safety installations, regular audits, emergency simulation exercises and staff training had strengthened MMA2’s reputation as a leader in fire safety within Nigeria’s aviation industry.

The Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Space and Premises Management, BASL, Mr Kola Bamigboye, said the award was a confirmation of the company’s long-term investment in safety and operational excellence.

Bamigboye said safety remained central to every decision at MMA2, adding that BASL would continue to invest in modern fire prevention systems, facility maintenance, staff development and emergency preparedness.

He said the recognition reinforced the company’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards and providing a secure environment for passengers and other terminal users.

Mrs Nafisat Adeniran, Head of Aviation Safety, BASL, said the award reflected the effectiveness of the company’s proactive safety management system and the collective commitment of its workforce.

Adeniran said BASL would continue to strengthen its safety systems, adopt global best practices and ensure that MMA2 remained one of Nigeria’s safest and most resilient airport terminals.

BASL reaffirmed that safety remained the cornerstone of its operations, describing the recognition as both an honour and a renewed responsibility to continue promoting safety and innovation in the aviation sector.

The company dedicated the award to its employees, airline partners, concessionaires, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders whose contributions had helped sustain strong safety record at MMA2.
