Lagos maritime week 2026 targets action as leaders for 11th conference
Lagos, Sept. 2026 (TBL Africa) Lagos will host over 500 maritime leaders from Sept. 8 to Sept.10 as LIMWEEK 2026 moves Africa’s blue economy from policy rhetoric to measurable trade, security and investment outcomes.

disclosed this in a statement made available to the media on Wednesday in Lagao.
Edodo-Emore said the 11th International Maritime Business-to-Business Conference and Exhibition would hold at Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, under the theme “From Policy to Practice Powering Maritime Excellence”.
According to her, the theme aligns with International Maritime Organisations (IMO’s) World Maritime Day 2026 focus on Africa, providing dialogue, knowledge exchange and deals across shipping, ports, logistics and the wider maritime value chain.
Edodo-Emore said that expected participants include government officials, regulators, industry chiefs, academics, investors, young professionals and representatives of international maritime organisations seeking practical solutions for Nigeria and the continent.
The Chair of Zee Maritime said that Artificial Intelligence and Innovation demand that Africa’s maritime industry and blue economy accelerate to the next competitive level now.
She noted that the conference would create platforms for stakeholders to identify challenges, explore investments, share experiences and develop practical approaches to strengthening Nigeria’s and Africa’s maritime competitiveness and governance.
“Keynote speaker is the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, Public Lecturer is NUPRC CCE, Ms Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, alongside Gulf of Guinea and Gambia maritime heads.
“Other speakers include Director-General, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr Dayo Mobereola; National Inland Waterways Authority and Alhaji Umar Girei; Nigeria Port Economy Regular Agency, Dr Pius Akutah.
“Also, the Registrar, Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding, Dr Kingsley Igwe, and Presidents of Women in Shipping and Trading Association, Dr Odunayo Ani as well as Women in Maritme Africa’s president, Mrs Theodore Nweze Nigeria,” she said.
Edodo-Emore said that discussions would cover Gulf of Guinea security, port development, maritime law, environment, training and women in maritime, moderated by experts including Amb. Florentina Ukonga and Kashima Tsumba-Ozogun.
She said that LIMWEEK would also feature exhibitions, business-to-business networking, and mentoring for young professionals, plus a Sept. 10 maritime excursion aboard NNS KADA for practical naval and industry exposure.
Organisers invited agencies, businesses, investors and professionals to register, noting the event offers access to decision-makers and partnerships to shape the future of Africa’s maritime sector.
