EKEDP reaffirms commitment to stable power supply in Festac-Amuwo customers
Lagos, July 22026 (TBL Africa) Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (EKEDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring stable and reliable electricity supply to customers in Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin and surrounding communities.
Mr Abiola Aloba, General Manager, Corporate Communications, EKEDC, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.
Aloba said that the recent power supply challenges in the area are largely due to ongoing upgrade works on the national transmission network.
He explained that the situation had also been worsened by persistent vandalism of underground electricity cables, with the Festac axis recording the highest number of such incidents across the EKEDP network.
Aloba said the company had taken several concrete steps to improve power supply.
She disclosed that the new Festac 3 Feeder, which runs from the Ojo Transmission Station to provide an alternative source of electricity to Festac Town, had been completed and commissioned.
According to him, the feeder is currently awaiting final load-balancing arrangements and approval from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) before it is energised.
He added that power supply on the Festac 1 33kV Feeder has been partially restored after a faulty underground cable was isolated.
He said engineers are working daily to locate and repair the remaining faults.
Aloba noted that EKEDP had invested millions of naira in strengthening the Festac electricity network and remained committed to further investments to improve service delivery.
On the issue of vandalism, he revealed that the company had escalated the matter to the Lagos State Police Command.
He said this had already resulted in the arrest of suspected vandals, currently in police custody.
Aloba emphasised that the company had maintained regular engagement with stakeholders across the Festac-Amuwo community.
He added that the engagement included residents, the Business Manager of the Festac District, traditional rulers in Amuwo Odofin and local government officials.
Aloba thanked residents for their patience, understanding and constructive support during the ongoing restoration efforts, adding that communication channels of EKEDP remained open to all customers and recognised community groups.
While acknowledging the constitutional right of citizens to peaceful protest, she appealed to residents to ensure that all engagements remain peaceful, lawful and do not endanger lives or damage electricity infrastructure.
He reaffirmed that EKEDP remained fully committed to restoring and sustaining improved electricity supply in Festac and would continue to keep customers informed on progress.
