Adelabu’s sister, twin sons kidnapped on way to school in Ibadan

Armed gunmen have abducted Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power and governorship aspirant, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The abduction occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, while Mrs. John-Paul was reportedly taking the children to school.

The incident was confirmed in a statement issued by Comrade Femi Awogboro, Media Aide to Chief Adelabu, on behalf of the family.

According to the statement, the 43-year-old Mrs. John-Paul is the youngest of five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu.

She voluntarily retired from service last year after working with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before relocating to Ibadan with her children.

The family disclosed that she had been making preparations to reunite with her husband, Mr. John Paul, who had earlier relocated to the United States.

Following the incident, the Adelabu family said it immediately alerted relevant security and law enforcement agencies, expressing confidence in ongoing efforts to secure the release of the victims.

“We are pleased to confirm that security operatives have swung into action and preliminary investigations have commenced in earnest,” the statement said.

The family, however, appealed for privacy and cooperation as security agencies intensify efforts to locate and rescue Mrs. John-Paul and her children.

The abduction adds to growing concerns over insecurity and kidnapping incidents in parts of Oyo State and across the country, with residents urging authorities to strengthen measures to protect lives and property
