Lagos Continental Hotel has launched a state-of-the-art training academy aimed at strengthening staff development, improving service delivery, and raising hospitality standards in Nigeria.

The newly unveiled Lagos Continental Training Academy is designed to equip employees with technical expertise, leadership skills, and innovative thinking needed to compete in a rapidly evolving hospitality industry.

Speaking at the launch, General Manager Christoph Schleissing described the initiative as a long-term investment in people and performance.

“A future where teams come together not only to learn, but to think, create, collaborate, and inspire,” Schleissing said. “When people feel valued, challenged, and inspired, excellence stops being an expectation. It becomes a way of life.”

The academy’s training model is built on five key pillars — training, facilitation, coaching, leadership, and innovation — to ensure employees develop both operational competence and leadership capacity.

The programmes will be led by Williams Umeh, Emmanuel King, and Williams Shaibu, all associates of the Nigerian Institute of Training and Development.

According to Schleissing, the academy goes beyond conventional workplace training.

“This is not simply a training centre. It is a learning experience designed to transform individuals and strengthen teams from the inside out,” he said.

The facility will provide employees with opportunities to sharpen their skills, gain new competencies, and prepare for leadership positions within the hotel and the wider Continental Group.

Management says the academy will also help drive a culture of professionalism, integrity, knowledge, and innovation across the organisation, positioning the hotel more strongly in Nigeria’s competitive hospitality market.

Industry observers believe the initiative could set a new benchmark for hospitality training in Nigeria by demonstrating how investment in people can improve guest experience, operational efficiency, and brand loyalty.

With the academy now operational, Lagos Continental Hotel is reinforcing its position as a leader in hospitality innovation, talent development, and service excellence.
