NRS accredits Afri Invoice to drive Nigeria’s digital tax system
Lagos, May 2026 (TBL Africa The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), formerly known as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has accredited Afri Invoice Nigeria Ltd as a system integrator for Nigeria’s mandatory electronic invoicing platform under the Merchant Buyer Solution (MBS).
The founder of Afri Invoice, Mr Mark Odenore, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.
Odenore said the accreditation placed Afri Invoice among a select group of firms authorised to connect businesses directly to the NRS real-time invoicing infrastructure.
According to him, the development is expected to strengthen transparent, secure and compliant tax reporting across the country.
He described the approval as a major milestone for both the company and Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
“This accreditation reinforces our commitment to helping organisations build trust, ensure compliance and report with confidence,” Odenore said.
“As transaction data moves into real-time digital systems, businesses must be able to rely on that data for tax reporting, audits and regulatory reviews.
“We combine deep tax and regulatory expertise with technology to ensure e-Invoicing processes are accurate, seamless and future-ready,” he added.
Odenore said that the accreditation further strengthens Afri Invoice’s position in Nigeria’s financial technology and compliance sector.
He noted that industry observers now ranked the company alongside leading professional services firms such as KPMG and Ernst & Young in the country’s expanding tax technology space.
According to him, the NRS e-Invoicing initiative is a key part of Nigeria’s broader tax reform programme aimed at improving transparency, reducing revenue leakages and enabling real-time monitoring of transactions.
He added that the initiative aligned Nigeria with global trends in digital tax administration already being adopted across Europe, Asia and parts of Africa.
Odenore said that the transition to electronic invoicing represented more than a regulatory requirement, describing it as a major shift in how businesses interact with tax authorities.
“The e-Invoicing mandate reflects a global movement toward greater transparency and real-time oversight.
“Our mission is to help organisations navigate this transformation, manage complexity, protect value and strengthen trust across the tax ecosystem,” he said.
He explained that before the federal government made the Merchant Buyer Solution a national priority, Afri Invoice had already established itself as an innovator in Nigeria’s digital invoicing sector.
According to him, the company developed technology-driven compliance solutions tailored to Nigerian tax regulations and supported businesses in moving from manual processes to digital workflows.
Also speaking, the Strategic Lead and Operations Director of Afri Invoice, Ms Fatimata Niang, said that the company’s strength lied in combining tax intelligence, regulatory insight and technology execution into one solution.
She stressed on the importance of tax expertise in interpreting regulations and managing compliance risks.
According to her, e-Invoicing works best when tax rules, data controls and enterprise systems are properly integrated.
Niang said that Afri Invoice would support organisations by integrating their invoicing systems with the NRS MBS platform, improving data governance and ensuring real-time, error-free invoice transmission.
She added that the company would also provide continuous compliance support as regulations evolve, helping businesses reduce risks and improve operational efficiency.
Niang described Afri Invoice Nigeria Ltd as a leading digital compliance company specialising in e-Invoicing integration, enterprise tax automation and regulatory technology solutions.
She said that the company combined tax expertise with advanced technology to help organisations strengthen compliance and improve operational efficiency.
