17 petrol stations fined, 24 warned over fuel sales violations
Yangon, April 2026 (Xinhua Action has been taken against 17 petrol stations in Myanmar for failing to comply with fuel sales regulations.
The state-owned daily, The Global New Light of Myanmar, reported on the development on Thursday, citing the Ministry of Energy.
In addition, 24 stations have been issued strong warnings after being found selling fuel without scanning barcodes or QR codes, the report said.
To facilitate smoother fuel purchases for the public, an upgraded system using barcode and QR code mechanisms has been introduced, allowing fuel to be sold based on designated quotas according to engine capacity, it said.
The report said authorities took action following complaints regarding station closures, failure to scan barcodes or QR codes, overpricing, and illegal sales practices.
