Ikeja Electric confirms staff hospitalised after electric shock in Lagos
Lagos, Sept. 2026 (TBL Africa) Mr Kingsley Okotie, Head, Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric Plc, has confirmed that an official of the electricity distribution company is receiving treatment at the Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos, after suffering an electric shock.
Okotie confirmed this in an interview in Lagos on Thursday.
He said that the official was electrocuted while carrying out repairs on a power pole in the Gbagada area of the State.
The Ikeja Electric staff was rescued after suffering an electric shock while reportedly carrying out repairs on a power pole at Gbagada Bus Stop on Tuesday.
The incident triggered panic among onlookers and commuters as rescue operations were carried out on the elevated ladder.
Okotie said the staff was rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.
“He is receiving medical attention and recuperating now,” he said.
