The Federal Government has invited global investors to partner Nigeria in building its power sector and strengthening energy security in Nigeria

At the Middle East Energy 2026 Leadership Summit in Dubai on Tuesday, Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, told the investors that Nigeria is open for business and ready to build.

He added: “Nigeria has chosen to build. Africa has chosen to build. And we invite you… to build with us”

He hinted that investor confidence will drive Nigeria’s power reforms.

Citing the Electricity Act 2023 as evidence of the certainty, he said the law ended the federal monopoly and created 37 state electricity markets.

He said Nigeria has over 200 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves and 20 years of reliable LNG supply to Europe and Asia, adding that Africa as a whole can no longer be ignored.

He said:”Africa, home to 600 million people still without electricity, sits not at the periphery of global energy geopolitics but at its centre.”

Saying Nigeria desires more than resource extraction deals, the Minister advocated the need for partnerships in local processing, manufacturing, skills transfer and patient capital.
