Customs appoints Itulua Lagos Industrial Area Controller

Lagos, Nov. 2026 (TBL Africa) The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Lagos Industrial Area Command, has appointed Deputy Comptroller Opeyemi Itulua as its new Area Controller.

Itulua takes over from Comptroller Adebola Salawu, who formally handed over leadership on Monday in Lagos.

The spokesman of the command, Assistant Inspector Jeremiah Zidyeb, disclosed this in a statement.

In his farewell remarks, Salawu thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, and officers of the command for their support during his tenure.

He highlighted the command’s revenue performance, which earned it the Most Improved Revenue Collection Award in 2025.

Salawu urged officers and men of the command to extend the same support to his successor to sustain revenue growth, discipline and efficient service delivery.

In her response, Itulua, fondly known as the ‘Number One Female General’, expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General and the management of the service for the appointment.

She pledged to build on her predecessor’s achievements, strengthen revenue generation and prioritise trade facilitation, accountability and operational efficiency.

The new Area Controller also emphasised the importance of collaboration with stakeholders and other government agencies in achieving the service’s mandate.

She assured officers of her commitment to aligning the command’s operations with the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General.
