Assurances Nigeria Plc and SUNU Health Nigeria Ltd. have offered free breast cancer screening to more than 60 female media practitioners to promote early detection and preventive healthcare.
The screening was conducted at The Pink Mic 2026 wellness initiative, organised in partnership with H₂O Wellness Foundation in Lagos, on Wednesday.
The event featured expert health consultations, breast cancer education and preventive health information.
The initiative seeks to empower these women to use their media platforms to disseminate credible breast health messages and promote early detection.
Mrs Japari Yusuf, Head, Corporate Services, SUNU Assurances Nigeria Plc, expressed delight at the collaboration.
Yusuf stressed the importance of normalising breast health conversations within families and workplaces.
She urged media professionals to responsibly share accurate information to dispel fear, stigma and misconceptions associated with breast cancer.
“Corporate social responsibility for SUNU Assurances and SUNU Health goes beyond business; it is about supporting initiatives that address real needs, encourage positive change, and empower people to make informed health decisions” Yusuf said.
She highlighted the group’s multi-year Pink October campaign, noting that in 2024 and 2025, no fewer than 250 women benefited from free screenings and mammograms.
She said this year’s focus on media professionals aimed to amplify awareness through their influential platforms.
Speaking, Ms Janet Karz Joshua, Convener of The Pink Mic, lauded SUNU’s consistent support and partnership with H₂O Wellness Foundation, emphasising the critical role of education and advocacy in breast cancer prevention.
