The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) on Wednesday joined other stakeholders in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry at the National Workshop on the Electricity Act 2023 in Abuja to discuss the reforms introduced by the Act and explore opportunities for developing Nigeria’s emerging multi-level electricity market.

The NISO delegation was led by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, FNSE. Other members included the Company Secretary and General Manager, Legal, Barr. Bashir Ahmed and the Assistant General Manager, Legal, Hajiya Maryam Gabdo Malabu.

The two-day workshop, held at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, was organised by the Office of the Vice President in collaboration with AllStates Management Partners Solutions Limited.

Discussions focused on the implications of the Electricity Act 2023, particularly the emerging multi-level electricity market and the opportunities it creates for states to establish sustainable electricity markets, attract investment and improve power supply.

The workshop also featured panel discussions involving experts and industry stakeholders, providing a platform to examine the implementation of the reforms, address emerging challenges and explore practical approaches to strengthening electricity markets across the country.
